Dedicated to the memory of Alva Fowler

Alva was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia aged 2 and underwent 3 1/2 years of treatment. This saw her spending huge amounts of time in hospital whilst she had chemotherapy; on top of this, she started nursery and school and did all the normal things a little girl likes to do.   In the summer of 2019, aged 5, Alva was given the all clear and had a huge party with all her friends to celebrate. Sadly, the leukemia came back shortly afterwards, and despite treatment, including a bone marrow donation, she died, just six months later, aged 5 1/2.  How can we describe Alva? She was popular, creative, a talented artist, a true and loving friend, a brave girl. How can we describe the hole she has left in our class? The truth is, we can't. The children always talked about her, when she was in hospital, when she was too sick to come into school, she was always their classmate, their friend. And they miss her. And don't understand why she isn't going to be coming back to school to join them.   Nothing we can do can take away the pain felt by Alva's family and friends. But what we can do is raise as much money as possible to help Children with Cancer support other families in similar situations and to hopefully, one day, wipe this cancer out so no more children like Alva have to die too soon.
